Re-Woven
The Story
In the quiet space between worlds, a thread is being woven.
After the sudden passing of my mother, her absence felt like an impossible void. But I came to understand that death is not an end—it’s a return. That when people leave this world, they re-emerge in the non-physical, where their true essence lives on.
In Re-Woven, my mother stands in that unseen realm, guided by our ancestresses as they help her weave a sash—the symbol of our Muskrat French Métis community. Each thread carries wisdom and love, knowledge that flows to me through my DNA, connecting us beyond time.
Here, in the physical realm, I reach for her in the ways I know—through my art, ceremony, and quiet moments of listening. I’ve worked hard to maintain a relationship with my mother, learning to hear her in the wind, the shifting light, the dreams that linger.
This painting is a reflection of that bond, proof that love does not dissolve with the body. The thread remains, unbroken, weaving us together across realms—past, present, and forever.
