A Gift from St. Thérèse of Lisieux
The Story
In April of 2023, I began experiencing strange occurrences involving images of St. Thérèse of Lisieux, a saint I had never heard of, despite her being deeply revered in the French community.
Known as the Little Flower, St. Thérèse is the patron saint of ordinary things, something that resonated deeply with my own approach to life. Her presence began to appear in unexpected places, on a tree near my house, on shopping bags, and I was led to two different stores where I found rosaries adorned with her medallions. I also began receiving random offerings of roses, the flower of St. Thérèse.
The day before I started this painting, my friend gave me a rose and my partner discovered a St. Thérèse prayer card among his mother’s belongings.
The prayer on the card included a line that spoke directly to my heart:
“O Little Thérèse of the Child Jesus, please pick for me a rose from the heavenly gardens and send it to me as a message of love.”
At that moment, I knew that St. Thérèse was seeking a more significant connection with me. It felt as though she had something to say, and I understood that this painting needed to be a co-creation between us.Throughout the process, I received many teachings, the most profound being the importance of beingopen to receiving. With this rose she gifts to all of us,
St. Thérèse is offering this lesson. I am forever grateful for this beautiful experience, and I thank St. Thérèse for her guidance and presence. Her message, delivered through a simple flower, has touched me in ways I will always appreciate.
