The other day I was suffering for the second day with a monthly migraine and having trouble getting out of my pain brain loops. You know, those moans and groans about 'why me', 'how is this teaching me anything', 'how am I supposed to meditate when my head is pounding', 'I'm on my path, why am I in so much pain'. Those types of things.
I was lying in my darkened room, took some deep breaths, tried to envision my heart chakra and opened up some space in there both physically and energetically. I moved from trying to stop the pain to opening space to receive relief. The difference in the migraine was noticeable. And that's when I was gifted a beautiful little nugget of wisdom.
I am clairaudient so I have conversations with voices. Sometimes I know who I am talking to and sometimes not. In all cases, I know the knowledge is being shared either directly or indirectly by my higher self.
Anyway, back to the wisdom nugget! I heard 'Ego is a forgetting tool to help the soul fit into the physical form'. This piqued my curiosity and I asked for clarification. The voice told me that our higher form energy is too big for our physical bodies. The energy vibration is too intense for the lower vibration of our dense forms. Basically, it would be like a lightning bolt entering into the human form. So the ego acts as a veil to shield us from our bigness until we expand and evolve our consciousness in order to hold more and more of our true essence.
The issue is that the ego is too good at its job. It uses our reptilian instincts and senses to keep us distracted from remembering. We live in constant fear and to disperse that fear we seek out anything and everything to provide comfort in order to regulate our system. This keeps us focused on the physical form and doesn't leave much space for energetic expansion which would allow us to remember and connect to our true essence.
Once I saw that taking a breath and focusing on making space in my energetic heart was actually regulating my body, I realized that this is the key to me expanding as a human. We are meant to evolve energetically. To expand to allow more and more of our higher selves to live in our physical form. This then amplifies what we can do in this form. A lot of teachers are talking about DNA activation as well. I believe that this is a result of allowing more of that higher vibration in. But that's a much bigger topic which I will talk about in another post.
The ego isn't doing anything but what it was designed for. Ego triggers emotions but doesn't feel emotions. It's not doing anything maliciously. It's basically a program that uses what it has at its disposal in order to meet the end goal of forgetting. You can see that it is reflected in the societal systems we humans have built. These systems are designed to keep us in fear and forgetting. I mean, Mother Earth provides for all of our needs yet humans are starving and homeless. This is not the natural order. This is the system that's going over and above to keep humans focused on physical survival instead of expansion and evolution. We are sovereign beings yet we can't remember that because the system and our egos are not letting us remember that.
So as my headache dissipated over the next 12 hours, I realized I was having migraines as a form of upgrading my physical form to allow for expansion. These headaches are too regular to be an accident. When I stopped trying to fix the headache and just let the energy flow through me, it passed and I was left with a beautiful knowledge that has become my touchstone. I use the following shortcut to remind myself often:
EGO = consumption leading to forgetting
SPACE = receiving leading to remembering
NOTE: We can only expand so much at any given time. There is no end. We learn a little. Practice a little. And then we learn a little more. Like playing the piano. And soon one day we know a whole song. And then move onto a more challenging song. And on and on it goes.
